2/22 Cat Day Lolita Tea Party!

2/22 is Japan's National Cat Day as it sounds like "nyan nyan nyan" and also happened to be our February lolita meetup date! So we had the theme of Cat, naturally.

I also discovered I don't have any cat prints... mine are mostly BABY's bears or usakumya, or sweets!  My one Putumayo JSK has a subtle print of Alice in Wonderland that includes the Cheshire Cat, so I wore that one~

Can you even spot the cat it my print? (Top right)

We went to our usual place for afternoon tea~

I also had sort of matching nails!  They were on the final few days of wear, and I removed them when I got home, but they made it through the day!

Kuromi nails!

I also tried to do a "cat eye" makeup and wore the pumpkin cat brooch I got from the last Lolita Market I attended.  Also tried curling my front hair/bangs a bit... I'm not good at it! But I think it did look a bit better.

The afternoon tea theme was strawberry!

Left to right: strawberry and brie, scallop on bread, strawberry and salami, shrimp strawberry salad, strawberry cheese ball with pistachio

The savory collection is always interesting!  My favorite was the scallop and least favorite was the strawberry and brie.  The shrimp salad was very interesting. I have no idea what that green bit on top is, but it was crispy!  The shrimp was a roasted shrimp with a strawberry-onion salsa/salad thing?  I'm not certain what the ingredients were, but the strawberry flavor could be tasted, and it actually was pretty good!

The strawberry sweets were also great!

IDK how to describe everything 🙀

My favorite was the strawberry-lemon tart and strawberry-lemon cheesecake!  The sour lemon balances the sweet strawberry~  My least favorite was the coconut cube cake thing (petit four?) because I don't like desiccated coconut.  The texture really spoils the cake for me!  The chocolate heart was very cute, though the filling struck me as raspberry rather than strawberry 😹

Afterward, we queued for dinner at 小器(xiao qi) again, and had to wait about an hour and a half so we browsed DHC and Daiso Japan nearby.

The rice here is seriously so delicious!  I don't know what makes it so good, but it's perfect!  I tend to make my rice too mushy so it's not Q at all... which can also be nice sometimes, but this rice tastes great just plain!

Overall, it was a lovely afternoon and evening~

When I got home, the first package from my taobao order came in.  I might make a separate post for it!  An old-school haul style post😻

Do you celebrate Cat Day at all?  I actually only remembered it that morning after seeing posts online, so it's not something I really celebrate, but it's cute to see cat posts always!
