STEAM E;DEN Lolita Meetup

On Sunday I went to a newly-opened steampunk-themed cafe called Steam E;den with Doro for our September Lolita meetup!  It's been a popular location with lolitas, and you can see photos on their facebook page!

The inside is very well-decorated!

Chinese Lolita Meetup! Qi/Han Lolita Style

Yesterday was our belated August Lolita Meetup with the theme of "Chinese Lolita"! Inspired by qipao or hanfu, we met two new friends and had a lot of fun!
Hair, JSK: handmade by me
Petticoat: Fantasyland (on taobao)
We went to traditional-theme restaurant and got our own room inside!  The restaurant is actually located within a night market that is close to where I live now, so I walked there ^u^v

My Kawaii and Gothic Bag Collection

Time for another video!  This time with my wig that I'm still learning how to wear @_@  So please excuse the terrible styling.  I even forgot a wig cap :)  That's how talented I am when it comes to wigs.  I feel like I should have colored my eyebrows a lighter color now that I'm looking back at the footage, but it's too late.

Unboxing Medusa's Makeup August 2018 Birthday Box

Hello my dears!  I recently received my order from Meduas's Makeup, which is a USA indie vegan b]d makeup

It also happened to be their birthday month, hence the bonus items.
Overall I was again pleased with the box, but I think I still need to cancel the monthly subscription because I simply can't afford it right now.

Little Twin Stars Inspired Makeup Tutorial

If you follow me on instagram @_sparklewolfie_ you may have seen my Little Twin Stars makeup
and now I've done makeup videos for it!  I didn't wear the wig this time as I'm trying to cut the hairline to look more natural so it's a work in progress ^u^

Chinese Style Hair Tutorial

In preparation for this month's Lolita meetup, I've been doing a bit of history and also just watching historic cosplayers' tutorials.  Many hairstyles require false hair bits (I've used those before in my dance troupe for performances) but I found one that could work for Lolita fashion.  I've worn my hair is similar ways before, but this time I loop the tail end of the twintails back to be more historically accurate (and cute!).  I braided my hair as it the texture holds the shape better, but the historic cosplayer I saw did the hairstyle without braiding it, so mine is a modern take.
You can't even see the buns because my hair accessories are so large
I also made video tutorials for this style!  There are two ways to do it depending on how long your hair is ^u^  Currently my hair is only medium-long so I do it the "cheating" way

Easy Kawaii Ribbon DIY

Here is a quick and easy way to make cute ribbons!  I learned this during my internship at Blasphemina's Closet (no longer in business) and it's how I've quickly made ribbons ever since!

Simple Eevee Makeup

Hello everybody!  I just made probably my worst Youtube videos yet -_-;; My camera lost some of the English footage so I had to use the Chinese footage and do a voiceover on my laptop.  Still, it's for the world's simplest Pokemon makeup: Eevee!

First Wig! Long Wavy/Curly Pink Wig

I just received my first wig!  I opted for an affordable one as I wasn't sure if I'd really like wearing a wig, but the quality is still quite good on this one.  I do think it is obviously a wig, but not in an ugly or plastic sort of way.

Paperless Flyers

Last year I made a post about using Paperless Post to send event invitations, and now they have a new function I just used: Flyers!  It didn't appear to cost me any coins to share my flyer via facebook, either.  I'm working with Paperless Post again to share this information with you (non-sponsored) if you are environmentally conscious but still like "official" invitations and flyers.

The flyer was very simple to make and can even have animated text, which we obviously cannot do on traditional paper flyers.

Personally I love invites and flyers as they seem more creative and personal than the general "facebook event" where many people don't RSVP or respond with the dreaded "maybe."

Simple Lolita Makeup for the Lolita Market

Yesterday there was another lolita market! I made better sales this time for some reason - better than any I'd previously done.  I filmed my makeup process but because I was trying something new, the footage did not come out as well as I'd have liked.

Followup Review

After using these Shop Miss A products for a while, here is a full review on the items I ordered:

Overall, I was most disappointed in the sharpener, slightly disappointed in the setting powder for how shimmery it is, and satisfied with every other item.  The L.A. Colors jumbo eye pencils are not as soft and creamy as NYX, but they still work for the intended purpose. I adore the Wonder Blender and the sponge holder, am pretty neutral about the poreless primer, like the lip scrub, love the lash curler that actually fits my eye, and like the mascara shield, though I haven't found a way to demonstrate it on camera since I need to get uncomfortably close to my mirror to use it (haha).

Fairytale Meetup

On the 14th we had our July Lolita Meetup (and oh goodness was it hot!) with the theme of fairytale/children's stories. Only Doro and I showed, and we both chose Alice in Wonderland as our story!

Small meetups are nice because you can chat more, so we had some yummy food and lots of chatting, and then went to buy drinks from a tea shop and look at UV protection items for Doro's mom.

Review: RoseGal clothing with all free shipping!

I've recently made several purchases from a website called RoseGal, which sells a LOT of Plus Sizes and offers free worldwide shipping on everything!

You can also check-in daily to get R points which can be used towards your purchases or at the Points Store to buy the clothing at an even more affordable price!  So here are some of the things I've purchased (I didn't have photos of everything) and why I signed up to be an affiliate
Bat Dress!

Get Ready with Me!

I filmed a Get Ready with Me video for the first time!  I don't know if it's boring because all I have to talk about is my exploding battery pack and the products I'm using, plus my camera overheats and cuts off randomly.  But I had fun doing it anyway!

Monthly Subscription from Apocalyptic Beauty: Spider Queen

I subscribed to an indie brand (vegan and cruelty-free) called Apocalyptic Beauty for their monthly subscription.  It costs US$22 for international buyers but only US$12 or so for US residents.  Either way, the contents are worth more than the price you pay, so here is my first unbagging for this month's theme, Spider Queen

Shop Miss A Try-on for Pokemon GO Community Day

I did my Squirtle makeup for Community Day using some of the Shop Miss A items I posted about in the previous post!

Chinese version:

English Version:

Because this is the first time I used the items, I don't want to give a review yet.  I did use the setting powder for under my eyes and I think it works well that way!

P.S. the headband is from BABY THE STARS SHINE BRIGHT

Did you participate in Community Day?  I got only one shiny Squirtle this time, but I LOVED all the sunglasses Squirtle!!  I evolved one into a Blastoise so I could have a sunglasses Blastoise ^u^v

Shop Miss A Haul

Now for something a little different!  Here's some affordable cosmetics I bought online.  Previously I've ordered from this shop and so I found L.A. Colors lipsticks to be of inadequate quality, but I liked the jumbo pencils so this time I ordered more.  I also tried the house brand AOA as I'd seen it do well online.

This was just a fun video for me to do, and I'll likely post product updates on my blog rather than Youtube as both my camera and laptop still overheat and crash randomly.

Sharing some online cashback

Here is a quick and unrelated post for those of us who are addicted to shopping online!  I've been testing out this website and extension for about four months now to make sure that it is legit, and it is!

I'm sure some of you have heard of Ebates, but if you haven't and you shop online, definitely sign up now, especially if you live in the USA!  Most of Ebates stores are in the US but there are some that ship worldwide too, such as eBay and Aliexpress, where I have been shopping.

To make a quick introduction, Ebates is like the cashback on credit cards, except this is for online shopping.  Before you go make a purchase at Sephora or eBay or Amazon, you can check the Ebates website to see what percentage cashback offer there is.  If you sign up using my link, you will also get a bonus US$10 when you make your first qualifying purchase.  I signed up through a Youtuber's link and yes, I DID get the bonus US$10!  I will get a bonus US$25 for each person using my link and making a purchase so if you'd rather not get the $10/give me $25 you can just google "Ebates" and sign up on your own.

Fairy-kei Photoshoot

A short while ago I met a photographer at a festival event, and he wanted to do a colorful photoshoot.  Since the outfit was just my daily wear, I tried to do more with my hair and makeup.  I quite like the way the photos turned out!  Here are a few of them (the rest that I posted are on my facebook)

All Red All the Time

On Saturday we had our May Lolita Meetup where the theme was "red only."  I only have one red dress from BTSSB but I love it a lot so I was happy to wear it again!

Sleeping in my bed of flowers
We went to a cool restaurant and sat in the Alice in Wonderland section.  There was no time limit to how long we could stay (rare in Taipei area) so we were there for a long time!!  No pressure to eat and get out; just chat a lot!

I Tried Following a Black Friday Makeup Tutorial

After seeing this trend go around Youtube I decided to try a purple gothic style of makeup by a Youtuber named It's Black Friday.

It turned out hilarious and terrible but I had a lot of fun!

Have you ever tried following any tutorials step-by-step?  I find it's always easier to just look at a tutorial and then modify it to suit your own preferences.

Red Black Smokey Eye Tutorial

Without Photoshop I haven't been able to make custom thumbnails for my videos so they tend to look a bit whacky ^^;  But here is a tutorial for a makeup I wore yesterday!

Cybergoth Photoshoot + Industrial Dance

On the 28th I did a photoshoot with Images by Kenny with the theme of Cybergoth.  I got to practice my styling skills on neco (her photos are all photoshopped much thinner though, which is NOT something I promote.  Love yourself the way you are!)
We found some neat areas at Ximending, a youth shopping district

Smokey Silver Gothic Lolita Makeup Tutorial

I haven't been able to make custom thumbnails because after my laptop was reset I lost my Photoshop T^T  So I just have to pick the least derpy looking screenshot that Youtube offers!

Lolita Fashion Photoshoot and Fashion Show Market

On April 14th we had another market event in combination with a fashion show and photography booths.  What made this different (apart from the combination of events) was that there were sponsors!!

There was an uber-like sponsor that took us from the MRT station to the location free of charge, which was a great relief as many of us had lots of stuff to carry.

I went with a Gothic Lolita theme this time!
Also a bit vampire ^_~

My booth
This was my first ever attempt at a smokey eye look, and I looked up lots of tutorials before doing it.  I think I did a good job for my first try *pats self on back*

Originally I was splitting a booth, but my partner dropped out so the sales I made pretty much only made me break even when factoring in cost of transportation and the vendors' fee T^T
Taiwan Teddy helping me out
My photos from the fashion show suck, so have a group photo by the official photographer instead!
Group Photo which I declined to join

I am happy with this look so here's one more photo taken after I got home.  Skindinavia setting spray keeps everything in place so well!

EDIT: Official Fashion Show Video is UP

Rilakkuma Cha Ya!!!

On April 8 we had our chocolate model meetup as well as a ceremony for Laina's baby girl (three-month anniversary).  She had special-ordered cookies that were insanely adorable!!

Absolutely adorable!

Minori Tea Party in Hong Kong 2018

From April 1 through 3 I was in Hong Kong (for the first time!) with Mirage to attend shironuri artist Minori's Lolita tea party!  It was the first time I'd done a shironuri event/makeup.
At the party we made lots of new friends!  And Minori herself was very sweet.

Thanks to Mirage and Lun for some of the photos!

Since then I've practiced some more shironuri looks on my own (pictures on my instagram) and hope to improve quickly~  Though my style leans towards Cyberkei (a la Bazookistan) I still really admire Minori's artistic and detailed makeup style

Official HK Lolita photos are up!

Sakura Blossom Viewing

I can't believe I forgot to post this!  Recently I went with Doro and Kamiko to view sakura blossoms in the mountains.  It was really delightful apart from the other people trying to take photos of us and people touching Kamiko's baby like he was public property.
So this is basically just going to be a photo post!

Twinning Meetup!

My first time twinning (outside of a photoshoot) was so much fun!  We had a meetup where the theme was twins, though only Doro and I managed to coordinate together.  We even tried to have the same hair and makeup as much as possible!
Reflected twins!
We went to a Hello Kitty restaurant to celebrate March birthday girls Kamiko and Neco!  Doro and I met up early and took so many photos @_@  Everything suddenly becomes more fun when you're twins!

Happy White Day!

We actually didn't realize it was White Day, but we had a small get-together yesterday just for fun!  Of course, most of us are daily lolitas so it ended up being like a casual Lolita meetup anyway ^_^

Top: Little Dipper
Bag: Swimmer Japan
Necklace: handmade by me
 We went to woosa, a place that specializes in pancakes.  It's not as good as the Japanese style pancakes we had at previous meetups but it was still pretty good.  Just not very filling ^^;

Harajuku Market on a Rainy Day

On Feb. 3 we had another Harajuku market, but it was both cold and raining hard that day! So needless to say, sales were abysmal. Though I did make back the vendor fee, I then promptly went with my friends Kamiko and NiYa to the Vivienne Westwood sale and bought two pairs of paw-feet heels.

All the same, it was fun and I've since created a small stand-up display to better display my wares. I twinned with Taiwan Teddy that day and it was nice!

Not Even a Review: Vivienne Westwood Anglomania X melissa RHS

The original Rocking Horse Shoes by Vivienne Westwood are a Lolita staple, with many Lolita brands having come out with their own versions over the years.   I've wanted to own a pair of RHS since I first fell in love with Lolita fashion, but just browsing the website is enough to give your wallet a heart attack!

When the collaboration with melissa brand came out, I nearly bought a pair as they'd be waterproof (melissa specializes in plastic shoes) but couldn't reasonably afford them. I even went to a local melissa store to ask if they had any, but was told they were not going to import these designs.

Good luck struck as over the weekend I heard about an insane sale of Vivienne Westwood (among other brands) goods from one of our Lolita friends.  I went with Kamiko and found the very shoes I was looking for! Better yet, they were 90% off. That's right; I bought two pairs for one tenth the retail price!
Red and Black
Sadly, work has not been good to me so I was unable to pick up more colors (white, gray, and limited edition Rose Gold were also available) but I'm happy with what I got.

The logo on the bottom is at the tip of the shoe, which doesn't touch the ground much when walking so I expect it will last a long time!
Logo at the ankle
That's one more thing off my Lolita bucket list! Given how often it rains here, maybe it's fate that I got the melissa collaboration rather than the authentic wood sole ones, which would suffer in the rain.

Word traveled fast and I visited the sale a total of three times, running into different lolitas each time. I wore the red pair the very next day to a lolita meetup, which will be in an upcoming post, so stay tuned to see them in action!
