Cardcaptor Sakura Cushion!

Micro post to share the cushion that has arrived!  It's so cute!  It's quite small, but I love it.

The four mini cushions/plushies inside can be removed and rearranged as you please!

It's so cute!!  Making my home cuter one item at a time.  That's all for today ^u^v

Sushi Day + Recent Gets!

Catching up on posts after the week-long adventure!!

On Wednesday I went out for a nice sushi lunch with some friends.  I did a purple x pink coordinate for the hot, muggy day!  I took this photo after I got home so my sunscreen is melting on my face...

Recent Looks and LOTS of Food!

I haven't taken many outfit snaps as I feel like they are rather repetitive O_Q  I haven't purchased any new Lolita dresses since 2018, and even swapping different blouses and accessories is starting to get repetitive!

Still, I enjoy wearing Lolita and going out with friends, so have some snaps of food, food-scented sheet masks, and other daily happenings!

Trying out Press-on Nails

Recently, I decided to give press-on nails a try again.  All previous attempts have resulted in nails popping off within a day or two, even using nail glue.  This is likely due to my strangely-shaped nail beds (flat with sharply curved sides, and two nails are "twisted" like a corkscrew so one side is lower than the other) that often leaves gaps under the press-ons.

I found some relatively cheap nails online on Shopee and bought several sets along with "jelly stickers" for adhesion.  I was hoping the nail stickers would help create a smoother surface area for the press-ons to stick too! I also got both long and short nails to see if it made a difference.

The first set I tried was a 24-piece set made of thin plastic.  I dipped them in hot water and pressed against my natural nails to flatten them out more and hopefully stick better.  This is a trick I learned from the internet.  This let me pick out which nail size fit which finger best as well. 💅

✨Point! Do not dip into the hot water for too long or use boiling water (I used just off the boil, and dipped for 1-2 seconds) or the nails may actually warp out of shape from excessive heat!

Trendy in Tokyo Colorful Palette Review

Colorful makeup is so fun and inspiring!  I love being able to play with a lot of different colors, and had been looking at quite a few rainbow palettes for some time.  In the end, I did an impulse purchase for this Trendy in Tokyo palette from bhcosmetics for US$16 when I was replacing skincare items at Ulta.

It took some time to put together this review because my phone gave up ghost and I was unable to take photos of any makeup I tried

The palette also includes a nice mirror, which I use when doing my makeup.Trendy in Tokyo

Kawaii Face Masks!

A bit of a late post now, what with my poor Natto baby's health these past weeks, but I am still happy to share these lovely Lolita face masks!

Face masks are quite common in East Asia, so I'd wondered previously why there were no reusable Brand masks from fashion brands!  We do have fun disposable ones, but they tend to be cartoon characters, animal print, etc.  Now you can truly coordinate your entire outfit by having the same fabric!

I first saw some Innocent World masks on Misako's YouTube channel, and went to instagram to see more!
Aoki Misako

Atelier Pierrot posted some contoured masks with a really sweet strawberry print I love~
Even the ear hooks are ruffled!

Gyaru brand Secret Honey has some cute masks that would work with Lolita outfits as well.  Cherries are always a good motif to have!

My favorite, hands-down, is the adorable mask from my favorite brand BABY, THE STARS SHINE BRIGHT which features not only cherries and flowers, but Usakumyachan and Kumakumyachan!!!!

Unfortunately it seems you cannot choose the mask print for BABY's novelty fair... maybe they can make more masks in the future, though!

Restrictions are lifting as I write this, though some places still require face masks.  Social distancing, though voluntary, seems to be enforced at the shops I have been to.

The weather is improving, and I find myself wishing Natto had lived just a bit longer so I could have gotten him a harness and let him  outside again.  I'm certain the ground squirrels and birds in the yard are glad that I didn't let him out though ^_~  He's a hunter!

How are things where you are?  Hope you are all staying safe!

Artist Spotlight: Miki Takei

Happy Lantern Festival! I was unable to really do anything this year other than have fun with lantern riddles, but I do want to post today to wish my readers a lovely festival and also share this artist I newly discovered!

Image from LINE sticker store

I discovered Miki Takei while browsing the LINE sticker store and saw this set which reminded me a bit of ECONECO, but whimsical in a different way...

Image from LINE sticker store
At first glance, both seem to be sweet and pastel styles, but Miki Takei uses fewer patterns and such on surfaces, creating a more "realistic" image compared to the totally dreamy and cartoon fantasy style of ECONECO I previously shared here.  While browsing her instagram, I thought to myself, "It's like a pastel filter put on our world." There are so many cute baby animal pictures to look at! I can't help but smile when I scroll through her page.

There are also some jewelry pieces in 3D molded metal that I really wish I could get *u*

Short post today, but thank you so much for reading and comments! ^u^v

What's your favorite color scheme? Jewel tones? Earthy tones? Dusty? Pastel? Bold? Neon? I think it's obvious that I like pastel best :P But I also really like Neon!! And... NEON PASTEL (that is a thing)

Artist Spotlight: Caramel*Ribbon

Time for another artist spotlight! My recent resin adventures reminded me of this resin artist I really admire. I first ran across her work at a handmade market in Taipei, which had Japanese artists invited as well.

If you are a fan of magical girl and pastel glittery styles, you will love Caramel*Ribbon for sure! While I believe the shop only sells to Japanese residents, her instagram is definitely some lovely eyecandy~

Check out some of her works!
Beautiful pendants~
Pic from website
I especially adore the magical key items! At the market they were available as necklace, pin, and hairpin. In person they are even more beautiful, if you can believe it!
Pic from website
The works are a bit large, so I would personally only wear one as an accent piece on a necklace or maybe as a bag pin.
Pic from website
Her work inspired me to order some key-theme metal charms recently to create small magical keys (and cat keys... maybe?) for charms myself! Cannot wait for them to come in!

Do you have any favorite resin artists? I'm looking for more to follow!! Drop some names below if you know any! Thank you~

Artist Spotlight: Sebastian Masuda

The last artist spotlight of the month!  Sensational kawaii artist Sebastian Masuda (website)(instagram) is immensely popular, with international shows and probably best-known for fashion brand 6% Doki Doki (instagram)!
Za X Sebastiam Masuda powder compact
I bought this Za X Sebastian Masuda compact just for the art, but it turns out I really enjoy the powder foundation too and bought a refill for it before I left Taiwan.  His art is usually super cluttered and detailed.  The more you look at an arrangement, the more you see!

Some people may find it too messy, but I sort of enjoy that messy kawaii aesthetic when it's a small item like this ^u^v  I'm not sure how I'd feel in one of his installation art rooms!

Is this heaven or hell to you?

Image from his instagram
If you're ever in Tokyo, visit Kawaii Monster Cafe (instagram) for a taste of what it's like!  I was so exhausted when I visited that I fell asleep there and missed the performance show T^T  But have some photos to share!

The lighting inside is rather poor, so if you want to take prettier photos, bring an extra light with you!!

Artist Palette Pasta!

He also made the art of "Yoshi's Crafted World" in the TV commercial (side note: that game is ADORABLE!  I played the demo!)
Image from instagram
As for the 6% Doki Doki style, I enjoy the busy prints as accent pieces, but I don't know if I'd dress head-to-toe in Doki Doki?  Of course, the shop staff all ROCK the sensational pop kawaii style!

Do you enjoy this style of art?  It's different from the previous artists I've posted about, as he is not an illustrator, but I really enjoy this as well!

Sailor Moon Pop-up Exhibit and Shop

After our Wa Lolita meetup, Doro, Laina, and I passed by a poster advertising a Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon pop-up exhibit and shop!  Since it was right by the MRT station we needed to go to, we decided to visit!

ECONECO in Taipei again!

On Nov. 11 Tokyo pastel colors artist ECONECO came to Taipei again!  Of course I went to see her with my good friend Doro ^u^v
Me, ECONECO, Doro
This time the shop was a part of a larger Japan display event (mostly food) at 新光三越 close to Taipei 101.  I wore my BABY, THE STARS SHINE BRIGHT yellow kumakumyachan JSK and headbow set!  And brought Taiwan Teddy in her Pikachu outfit.
Doro got a tote and ECONECO drew a squirrel (Lulu) on the back!  She asked what Doro wanted Lulu to be eating and I suggested the star-shaped crackers hairpin she was wearing so Lulu is eating a star cracker!
I bought a couple folding mirrors because they are really handy to carry in a handbag!  There was no Lulu design available, so I bought the hedgehog and Unita the unicorn instead.
The pouch was a gift with purchase that Doro got and gave to me!
ECONECO gave me a postcard as well because she remembered that I was there at both the other times she came to Taipei *u*

If you like detailed pastel artworks, be sure to follow ECONECO on instagram!  I think there is also an ECONECO cafe now :o  I want to go there in the future!

Thank you for reading, and if you have any favorite artists to share, please share them in the comments below!  My other favorite artist is Yoh of Yoh's Monochrome World.  It's a completely different style, but you should look him up if you like Gothic artwork and very detailed linework!

Fairy-kei Photoshoot

A short while ago I met a photographer at a festival event, and he wanted to do a colorful photoshoot.  Since the outfit was just my daily wear, I tried to do more with my hair and makeup.  I quite like the way the photos turned out!  Here are a few of them (the rest that I posted are on my facebook)

Sakura Blossom Viewing

I can't believe I forgot to post this!  Recently I went with Doro and Kamiko to view sakura blossoms in the mountains.  It was really delightful apart from the other people trying to take photos of us and people touching Kamiko's baby like he was public property.
So this is basically just going to be a photo post!

Happy White Day!

We actually didn't realize it was White Day, but we had a small get-together yesterday just for fun!  Of course, most of us are daily lolitas so it ended up being like a casual Lolita meetup anyway ^_^

 We went to woosa, a place that specializes in pancakes.  It's not as good as the Japanese style pancakes we had at previous meetups but it was still pretty good.  Just not very filling ^^;

As the title suggests, here are some photos of practicing shironuri makeup styles I've been trying recently.  It is different from normal makeup application O_O

First attempt; no idea what I was doing
