On April 1st, Kamiko and I made the trek to a distant (it's not actually far away; it's just difficult to get to because of lack of public transit) cat restaurant! Different to most cat cafes, the focus is on the cats with a small, separate restaurant area. The interior is large and spacious (a bonus of being at a distant location!) with cat furniture made of wood and nests woven from branches.
The entrance fee of NT$500 may seem steep, though it does get you NT$200 off your meal. I do think it was worth it for the 150 minutes you get to play with SO many cats!!!
During their snack time, they allow guests to get in the big nest to take photos with the cats!
I went for a casual outfit so avoid getting any damage since cats love netting and organdy type materials. The "soft gyaru" look is all off-brand items. I am not familiar with the substyles of gyaru by name, so "soft gyaru" is a literal translation of the Chinese name ^^;
Each cat had a nametag on them so you can call them by name! I'm not sure how many of them know their own names as there are very many, but it's cute!
It was a little bit rainy and a little bit chilly that day, so the floor was cool. Sitting and kneeling on the floor made my legs cold after a bit, but there are benches to sit on as well.
The nests that are available throughout the main room are very cool!! The cats seem to enjoy climbing the branches as well.
Most of the cats are quite calm and affectionate. The glass doors behind this photo is an area for the cats. There is also a bathroom there (there is an additional door behind the glass one, of course!) so any cats who want to decompress can use the cat door to hide away.
Though there were a few fights between cats while we were there, most of them got along quite well.
There are many places for the cats to scratch and climb as well.
There is space underneath the nests for the cats to hide under! They can spy on us all from there!
Everybody is given blue foot/sock covers as shoes are not allowed inside. Masks are also required for now because they accept multiple reservations at each time slot.
One of the side rooms has a rose wall with a paw shape! I took quick snaps there because it was the cats' snack time right as I got into this room, so there was no time to take more photos!
Most of the cats were quite curious about Teddy. Several of them actually chewed on her, thinking she's a toy >:(
Some cats just sitting around being really really chill.
And some are very energetic! This one called 正男 (Zhengnan) is young and really wanted to play, so I played with him for a bit :3 He did a lot of flopping and play-biting.
He was also very interested in the ribbons on my skirt ^^;
The bar and part of the kitchen is visible from the room as well!
Kamiko wore her Angelic Pretty dress, and many cats were interested in the netting overskirt. We had to untangle a few cats from it, as well as her petticoat!
Cats love scritches~
Shortly before Violet was attacked, I got a good photo :)
The cat is looking at the phone charms on my phone in this photo....
Here is a better shot of the bar! It looks quite nice, right?
This is one of the little cat doors that cats use to get from their private area to the public area.
The website says that this place was started because the owners was takin in strays and wanted to build a place for them to stay and have a safe life at, and they continue taking in new cats. Cat Valley is a little haven for the cats and a pleasant place for visitors!
This is the newest cat to the bunch! It is VERY cute and small! Another group of people there kept grabbing it by the tummy instead of by the chest and rump to get it for a photo and eventually it got sort of mad and hissed ;-; But when it was left alone, it seemed really sweet!
Here it is scratching on one of the branches in a side room. Small little legs!
This cat really liked the head scritches!!
And here is one who fell asleep~
Shortly before Violet got nommed.
This one helped itself to Kamiko's lap =^.^=
While I was leaning forward to get a photo, one of the cats tunneled into my jacket and stayed there for a while. So I stayed there for a while too.... haha!
Teddy's dress has ribbons on the back and the cats really really liked that O_Q I had to redo the ribbon several times that day!
Here is the energetic youth again!
This big nest is the one that guests are allowed to enter for the group photo~
Good balancing skills on this branch!
The entrance has woven branch art as well. It's so cute!
I hope you all enjoyed some cute cat photos!! It was a lovely day!
Meals are prepared on a first-come-first-serve basis. I ordered a salmon quiche (NT$300) and it came surrounded with vegetables, so I think it was a good deal! The food was quite delicious as well. Some theme cafes and restaurants don't put as much effort into the "meal" portion of the experience, but Cat Valley did a decent job in my opinion!
What would be your ideal animal cafe/restaurant to visit? I think I would also like a guinea pig restaurant, though it's more difficult to keep clean due to them pooping at random from time to time (they do tend to have a bathroom corner, but still poop at random)
And of course, a dog restaurant would be awesome!!
