My First Brand Tea Party: Little Rose Planet ft. Cathy Cat

It's been a busy several days for me, so I'm a bit behind on posts! Going out every day can really take a toll.

On Saturday I went to my first brand-hosted tea party by Taiwanese Lolita brand Little Rose Planet! I've known the owner Mei for so long I can't remember when we met any more 😹 One of the girls actually asked me that question at the tea party, which is why I started thinking about it, and realized I have no idea!  She's lovely and often collaborates with talented artist Zihlinghuang for prints!

I saw the Little Rose Planet instagram post about the tea party and signed up and paid right away!  There were no new product launches or products to buy at the tea party as most brand events have, but I wanted to support anyway!

The location also got changed as the original restaurant didn't want to reserve for such a large group 😾without a down payment. Luckily, the alternate restaurant chosen was one I'd had saved on my Google Maps for a while, so I'm really glad we went there!

They also had a special guest Cathy Cat from Japan (iirc, she said she's German, studied in UK, then moved to Japan) and it was lovely to meet and chat with her too!

I wanted to wear my Little Rose Planet socks (not required to wear their brand, but of course I wanted to!) so I coordinated around the socks.  They feature a fox and some strawberries, so I thought they would match well with my Metamorphose wa-lolita JSK that had traditional Japanese candies featuring animals as well as red accents!

The hair and makeup was planned out for about two weeks as I looked up inspiration pictures and considered whether I even have the skills to pull it off!  I am VERY bad with hair 👍  Fortunately, I am satisfied with the end result!  It's not really visible in the photos, but there are braids at the bottom half of the hair style pulled up into the double buns.  It keeps the back neater and also adds some texture/feature to the back of the hairstyle.

I also made these lashes years ago.  It's got some clusters on the outer edges, but as they were glued on with lash glue, they came off when I removed my lashes.  There's also red gems and a pearl on each outer corner of the lash!

The weather has been strange lately, so I had a cardigan as well as a jacket.  Ended up not needing the jacket at all so carried it in my bag! Luckily I had a large bag, haha!

The restaurant we went to is called 知花樂 Mystique de Flora and the interior is decorated beautifully!  It is also changed out from time to time.  This time, it was decorated all with white florals on the walls and ceiling.

However, the staff seemed unaccustomed to a large group as they struggled with our orders and getting the correct dishes out in the right order.  Soup and salad sometimes came after the mains, some people didn't get their correct dish at all, Cathy Cat's editor, Steve, didn't get his order until the very end, drinks that were supposed to come before the mains came after, and they had to come out and double check what had and had not been delivered yet twice.  Overall, the staff was very polite and did try their best in my opinion, and tried to rectify any mistakes (one dish was delivered to the wrong person as they said the dish name incorrectly, so when her correct dish came, they just let us have it and went to remake the first dish for the correct person.)

The afternoon tea also needs to be ordered ahead of time, so I think I will visit again and try the afternoon tea!

I got a brunch ($380) and on the QR menu order, it didn't specify that the drink and dessert was an additional $150; just put it all on one list to select from, so I thought it was included.  QR menus really aren't as good as traditional staff-taken orders!

Fries, croissant, sunny egg, salad, smoked salmon, stir-fried mushrooms and onions

Fortunately the food was decent!  The croissant was larger than expected and it was a crispy type rather than soft, so made quite a mess! I wish the coffee had been delivered with the food as specified (there is the option to select before or after meal) to offset the dryness of the large croissant.  It did match well with the dessert when it showed up, at least!

The dessert is a Basque cake and it was lovely!

While waiting for food, Mei prepared some fun games for us to play!  After we introduced ourselves, she had us each draw a nametag and then act out/introduce ourselves as whoever's name we drew and the others would guess who it was. It was a fun and interesting way to help us remember who each attendee was!

Then we played a game for prizes.  Each person drew a Disney character but we couldn't look at our own card; we had to hold it up to our head and ask the person next to us one yes/no question about our character.  We continued in a circle this way until we could guess our character.  It included characters from obvious ones like Ariel and Mulan to tougher ones like Mad Hatter and Peter Pan, to some characters some people don't even know the name of, like Lucifer (the fat cat from Cinderella who terrorizes the mice.)  It was such a fun game that we played it twice! I drew the Evil Queen (from Snow White) the first time and the Queen of Hearts the second time.  I'm just an evil queen kind of character, I guess! 😹

I actually didn't guess in time for a prize, but 梅/Ume, who is friends with Mei, said she'd give her prize to the next in line, which was me 😹 So thanks to her, I got a Little Rose Planet printed cloth for wiping screen or lens!  And everybody got a Little Rose Planet phone holder/stand.  Mine has both the red and white foxes on it~  Though I haven't put it on my phone as I may be changing phone cases soon.  Plus the pleather is peeling so badly I'm afraid it'd come right off!

Then Cathy gave each of us some chocolates from the UK, Belgium(?), and Japan, as well as giant sticker from Japan Nintendo store!  We each drew one facedown and I got the Animal Crossing New Horizons one! I'm glad I got one from a game I've actually played~  It's currently on display on my entrance shelf.

I also took some photos around the restaurant while there weren't many people! They really put a lot of effort into the florals~

Because Cathy is a TV presenter, she filmed some Shorts content for her socials, which was fun! It was all very short and simple, but Steve is really good at handling the photos and videos I think!  Better than I do for Violet, anyway 😹

Afterwards some of us went to Shilin Night Market to walk around, and then had tea/coffee/beer and chats at a nearby cafe before heading home.  Overall, it was a wonderful day!
