Baby's First Gyaru Attempt: Himekaji

A TikTok viewer had requested a gyaru look, and I have a LizLisa dress that was gifted by my coven waifu, so I figured, why not?  I like Himekaji style after all!

For the makeup, I just directly followed a tutorial by @usatanipaisen1215  in Instagram! She's an inspirational gyaru, and I think she's an official gyaru ambassador or something?  Not sure, but she had a two-part reel that showed basic gyaru makeup, so I followed it to the best of my ability!

Unfortunately I forgot a full outfit photo 😿 I was a bit tired after getting back from the hospital with my mom, so I just took off my hair/makeup without thinking!

First impressions of Gyaru make:

*It's got so many steps!  And the contour is insane!  As somebody who doesn't contour AT ALL usually, this was a lot of steps.  I used eyeshadow as I haven't even got a contour palette!  Lip contour was the strangest for me!

*Trust the process.  I looked INSANE as the tutorial sort of jumped from place to place, so like my lips were contoured, but no lipstick yet, just go to eyes, so I was looking pretty cray-cray for most of the makeup process.  She also drew the namida bukuro BEFORE the other eyemake, so it was looking HEAVY

*Some steps are reversed for me!!  She put on powder white highlight BEFORE her cream one?  I don't have actual white powder or cream product, so I was actually using Ben Nye clown white base makeup (from my shironuri makeup) and setting powder in white.  I don't think they are meant to be reversed the way her products could be used, so some parts of my white highlights became patchy.

*Pigment matters!  My blush is barely showing in the photos!  And I don't have any baby pink lipstick.  It's actually a bit difficult to find a good, pigmented lipstick here that isn't like... brown red.  I love the Lip Monster line by Kate Tokyo but I can't find my pink color any more? And they don't have a baby pink one either!

*Eyeliner is not as difficult as I thought it would be.  I used an essence cosmetics felt-tip liner, so it wasn't as fine as a brush tip, but it's the only one I've found that doesn't get dried up instantly over eyeshadow.  It still struggled a bit over the white stage makeup, but I got it to layer up ok!

*Eyebrow powder is nice!  Of course, I actually used eyeshadow, but doing brows with an angled brush is different for me.  I usually use a pencil.  I like the effect, even if the bangs ended up covering them for the most part!  I also made my eyebrows thinner, and I think it fits my face ok still~

My lower lashes are not visible in photos at all! Should have drawn some on

It was a pretty long process as I wanted to be very careful with each step, but it worked out I think!  When I went to my mom's to take her to the hospital, she said I looked like a Japanese doll 😹so I suppose that means I at least passed the bare minimum!

I'm now more curious to try more styles~~  Thought of rokku straight away, as I really like that style (I even have a Glad News hoodie!) but was also suggested amekaji by kiringalblog! I will need to do more research on these styles.
