It's been a bit of delay, but my mom and I are home now so I can update on Day 2 of adventures with my friend kayz0rbeam!
She wanted to look into getting a facial while in Taipei, so I got a recommendation from my classmate. It's important to look at reviews and also the doctors. My classmate had asked for additional procedures after her first one to treat undereye shadows and been turned down due to the procedures not being suitable or effective for she was looking for, which I think is a good sign. You need a doctor who can tell you "No" instead of taking your money and doing anything you ask, even if it won't actually do anything.
In the morning we first went to Vivienne Westwood shop, but they don't have a cafe there any more! The Google Maps had photos of sweets but they were several years old, so I'm not sure when the cafe portion was removed.
After a quick browse through the shop, we got some bubble tea at Odd One Out but my photos seem to have disappeared???? It was quite tasty!
We stopped by Uniqlo for some bra tops kayz0rbeam needed and I took a mirror selfie:
Skirt: Handmade by me
Bag: Kreepsville 666
Shoes: Sheep Puff
As the appointment at the aesthetics clinic was in the afternoon, we first stopped by the
scone cafe I posted about previously for some scones and drink!
Tea, jasmine scone, coffee, uh... I forgot what scone I got!! HAHA
It was close to the clinic so we chilled and chatted until it was time to go over for the appointment!
I did not take many photos at the clinic, but basically they did a $500 consultation (it is deducted from the cost of procedures) and did a full face scan to point out places you can choose to improve.
I translated for the intake doctor, but the procedure doctor spoke English so that was nice! Also... I didn't know we all had oil-eating parasites in our faces???? I knew about the ones on our lashes and brows, but the intake doctor took some sebum from kayz0rbeam's face and put it under a microscope to show us!! They said it's nothing to be terribly concerned about as everybody has it, but if there's very many, you can treat it to reduce redness and inflammation.
Eventually, kayz0rbeam got a couple laser treatments for things she wanted to improve, and said the price was higher than Korea and Japan, but lower than USA, and service was better 👍
She got a cleansing and numbing cream, then we waited for probably an hour and 15 minutes? Definitely longer than I would have liked, but the waiting room was a private room and it was comfortable.
Anyway when we went into the first procedure room, she asked me why there were snacks just lying around 😹 For those of you who don't know, we have a snacky chips called 乖乖(guai guai) and 乖 basically means "well-behaved" and the package color of the original flavor is green, the color of a machine light when it's running well. So there is a superstition that placing a bag of these snacks on a machine will keep it behaving well and running smoothly. The snacks do need to be kept fresh as expired ones don't "work" 😹
Taiwanese IT superstition
Overall the procedures went smoothly and we got the prescribed creams and aftercare information, then went out for dinner! While on our way to some noodle shop, we passed by
Smith&Hsu which I've been to before for a Lolita meetup. They've got a focus on tea, so we detoured and had afternoon tea for dinner here instead!
Sweets, scones, and open-faced sandwiches
The sandwiches and scones and tea were so good!!!
Cranberry scone, shrimp and mushroom, smoked salmon, and tomato with cheese and olive oil
Tea
It was a relaxing day! I'm considering going to the clinic to treat my undereye shadows 🤔as the shadows and fine lines are what I'm most worried about nowadays....
Have you ever had aesthetics procedure done before? Or have you contemplated it? I've had laser freckle removal on some dark spots and it was great!
Wow that's so crazy! Unfortunately I know we don't have anything like that around here. It would be good though but this town is full of people that don't even trust banks lol....but wow those food pics look so good!
