January Meetup + Crocodile Dinner + Shisha and Drinks

 

This weekend was our January lolita meetup!  It was a bit chilly~

Got the chance to pull out the Unideer coat again!  I sort of want to put some more pins or ribbons on it as it's a bit plain.

I also tried my hand at a different style of douyin makeup with a slight eye droop.  I think it's not too terrible?  I used eyeshadow so it would be easier than liquid liner at first!  Also still working on hiding those undereye shadows. I think it's ok this time.  Can't hide shadows from actual light/shade, but the discoloration seems neutralized!

Winter is strawberry season, and the dishes this time were very interesting!

The tofu and the shrimp were both really good!!! The strawberry tempura had a crisp outside but the inside was too soft for my liking.  The strawberry cheese tart was also really nice, and the strawberry nigiri was just... weird?  Strawberry and rice?

I got a hot latte as usual. I wish the serving was bigger!!

The sweets were very filling too!

It's pretty delicious! The only thing I didn't like was the leaf/stem on the strawberry mousse (center below) because it was that modeling paste stuff.  Not nice!

The place also still had Christmas decorations up! Since we hadn't had a December meetup, it was nice to catch the tail end of the Christmas decor~

However, I forgot to bring the Tokyo Banana x Pokemon cookies I'd bought in Tokyo to share! My brain is so forgetful. 

Afterwards I met up with a friend and her friends for dinner at a streetside shop.  We ordered turtle and crocodile. It was my first time eating crocodile!

You actually get a cup of blood from the turtle and it is mixed with alcohol, but I think many people would feel squeamish so I won't post the photo.

For the crocodile we got it two ways!

The soup one had a bit of a sandy texture. I didn't like it that much!  The three cups was better in my opinion. The texture is rather loose as in the meat seems to fall apart, but isn't stringy or tough at all!

Then after THAT I met up with another friend who was having shisha and drinks!  Turns out we have overlapping friends, so that was pretty neat!

Gold leaf in drink kinda weird. Texture not nice. 

 It was a pretty nice place! We stayed until close and then carpooled back for those of us going in the same direction.  The drink I ordered was a Godfather, and was originally out of stock, but after getting a custom mix, they did bring over the Godfather! It was really really delicious 🙀 If we go back, I will order it again!

Do you have a go-to drink? Or do you like trying new things each time?  I do enjoy trying out new things, but do have certain flavor profiles I prefer~
