All Hallow's Eve Closes Its Door Once More

I wish I could start off with some happier news, but for me, sadly, The ending of the season brought the ending of a life. My grandfather passed away as the day turned from October 31 to November 1.

My family came together (those of us in Taiwan and Mainland China, and my dad from America to see his passing. I got there too late for a last look, but was able to burn incense and bow to Buddha and my grandpa. The funeral is next week, so I will not be updating much. Both my sisters are coming to Taiwan, I Think!!

We used to have Halloween together, wearing handmade costumes that got passed down the line. I don't remember much about childehood, and I don't remember what candy we got or whose house was scariest, but I know we did it!!

After these years, I supposed we have all grown up

Like that? Do we look like that now??

I haven't been in the same place with both my sisters for quite some time now. IT's odd how growing u you cannot wait to have your siblings vanish, but when you move out, their presence seems like a fresh breath of memories. At least until they overstay their welcome and remember why you wanted them to leave in the first place.

So, what did I do for Halloween this year? I had a photoshoot for my assignment due the next day!

Can you guess what it is? Albeit, it's more of a fashion interpretation than a full-out costume, but it's still good!!! I'll post the answer tomorrow :)

How was your Halloween? Did you dress up? Reactions? Loot? Let me know!

Resurrection!

Use Revive?

Yes!

Hi, I'm back! Sorry I've been inactive. With school starting, I've really only been working in the daytime and going to school at night. I haven't touched any Lolita for quite some time!

For an apology, have a picture of the baby panda that was born at Taipei Zoo a few months ago:

His name is 圓仔/YuanZai, which is also a term for the glutinous rice soup ball things we eat for the Lantern Festival. And since his parents' names are 團團/TuanTuan and 圓圓/YuanYuan, YuanZai can be interpreted as "child of Yuan"
And he's entering the "cute" phase of panda life!

Any way, October brings about a lot of autumn goodness, such as pumpkin if you live in the West (sobbing because we don't have pumpkin anything here!) and Halloween!! Angelic Pretty recently posted about some Halloween photo event, but I thought the masks they posted were very cute. Take a look below:

I think these would be really cute for a Lolita Halloween party!

Ready-to-decorate full, half, and eye masks are readily available at craft stores. You could easily use fabric, craft foam/EVA foam, and accessories to create a similar mask yourself.

Disney Lolita Collaboration, Classic Style

Disney Japan has done another Lolita collaboration! See the previous post on the Gothic and Lolita Alice in Wonderland post here

This time is a Classic Lolita collection with BABY, Alice and the Pirates, and Crystal Ball. There are Alice and Wonderland and Cinderella clothing and household items.

By the way, sorry for such a long absence from blogging. I had a friend visit for two weeks and then I've just been working, so haven't really done anything interesting or Lolita at all!

Anyway, my favorite item from the collaboration is actually this accessory holder from the Alice collection:

Isn't it cute? Very useful, too!

I love the Cinderella jewelry too:

The necklace is a bit over the top, but in a very beautiful way, I think. I'm not sure when I'd ever wear such a thing, but it's gorgeous!

The Cinderella OP is very decadent and hime. I LOVE the princess bell sleeves on it!

The Alice skirt is less my style:

But I like the tights:

I can't really wear printed tights too much because I'm too chubby and stretch them out, skewing the print and weakening the tights. I rip tights VERY easily! So that is why I don't buy expensive or special tights ^^;

If you could create a collaboration with any Disney cartoon, which would you choose?
I would want to do a collaboration with Beauty and the Beast! Belle's daily dress and her ballgown are both gorgeous, and the Beast's suit would make for some awesome dress or kodona/ouji style. Plus, the castle is full of so many furniture characters that could be accessories or room goods. So many possibilities!

Happy QiXi!

My friend is visiting from Korea, so I've been incredibly busy! Hence the lack of posts.

I just want to wish everybody a happy Chinese Valentine's Day and share the cute Google homepage game here

You can read the story behind this holiday in this post here. Then the Google game will make more sense ;)

Cherish the dear ones in your life!

Belle's Library~ Smurfs 2

Yesterday I had the opportunity to go watch Smurfs 2 and take photos with the Smurfs!
Growing up, I actually didn't know what Smurfs were, really. I'd only ever seen them in a video game that I saw once, but I thought they were really cute.
I saw the first movie on TV here, and really think it was quite well done. I love the evil cat and think the realism and cartoon aspects were balanced really well.

The ticket I got was from work because I'd helped to work on a collaboration between the movie and the school I work for, so my mom and I went to see the movie.

Check out the 3D glasses we got!

I love the little hat on it!

Honestly, I don't think the movie was worth watching in 3D because it didn't really add much to the overall effect. I also got a headache by the end of the movie :( So if you are planning on seeing this movie, I suggest watching the regular 2D version.

Spoiler-free review:

Here's my fancy ticket:

An hour before the movie, there was a blue carpet set up and you could take photos with Clumsy, Papa, and Smurfette!

Here is me pretending to be a celebrity:

The sequel is semi-noncontinuous, so if you haven't seen the first movie, it's not too big of a deal. I really loved the themes of self-discovery and non-conditional love in the movie (for both the humans and the Smurfs), and the comedy was pretty well-balanced.

If you haven't seen the first movie, pretty much all you need to know is that Gargamel is in the human world and is now a celebrity because he can do magic using the leftover essence he got from Papa in the previous movie. It's really funny how he learns to cope with modern society and technology while still holding on to magic and the world of the Smurfs.

I didn't like the "goofy" new character of Haggis (I think that's his name?) very much, but he is a contrast character I suppose. I did like the new girl character, Vexy, though!

There IS a post-credit short between Gargamel and Azrael (the cat), so be sure to stay until the very end!
