Kayz0rbeam in Taipei! Day 5

Whew! On Day 5 it was my actual birthday! I was running out of ideas as I usually don't go out much, but I did know that kayz0rbeam wanted to eat at 春水堂/Chun Shui Tang, which is one of the shops who claims to have created boba.  Also, it's just good 😸

So we went to a cultural park that has a variety of pop-up shops, exhibits, and displays as well as some restaurants.

We ordered some dandan noodles, veg, and daikon/radish cake and a jasmine tea with boba!

You can also see Violet's new skirt here~

The food was really nice!

We watched some comedic dancers/street performers who did dance, juggling, contortion, and audience interaction. It was pretty fun!

Then we browsed some handmade shops and kayz0rbeam bought me a birthday present!!!

It's an embroidered butterfly charm/pin.  I put it on a silver chain that I've been keeping.
The photo doesn't do the embroidery justice!

There was also a little game pop-up where you could test out games, but we didn't want to wait around for a turn.  I did take this snap of the Little Nightmares III poster!  I can't wait for the launch~

For dinner we went to a Japanese place and I got a mixed seafood bowl.  I've previously been here when it was less busy and the service was nicer then.  This time was rather crowded and the miso soup was a bit cold!  The food was still good, at least.

We wanted to go to this cat cafe nearby, but it was too late! So I just took a snap of the cute kitties through the window.  It looks very nice and the cats are very friendly and relaxed, which indicates the owners are treating them well.  Some would flop over and show their bellies even!

I hope I can go visit here another time.

We didn't want the night to end yet, so went to a nearby cafe that was supposed to have good vibes.  It really was a moody aesthetic with dim lights and random furniture.  We got a stone/concrete(?) table and the menu looked like it was ready to fall apart at any minute!  It was a bit difficult to read.  This photo is with a phone flashlight on it!!
Seriously the text is so blurry due to the paper wearing away!

I ordered a coffee and a canele as my birthday cake!  Unfortunately it wasn't a particularly good canele... and it took ages to serve!  So... another case of "the aesthetics are there but the service is not" 😹

Regardless, it was a great birthday because I could spend it with my good friend!

What is your favorite type of single-serving cake or dessert?  I actually really like pudding (the jiggly yellow type with caramel on top) or the milk equivalent (奶酪)... I think it's just called milk pudding?  For a fancier treat, I do like French macarons, but due to how sweet they are, they must be paired with tea or coffee!

For sliced cakes, I like crepe cakes!  Tiramisu crepe cake is divine~

  1. Awwww happy belated birthday!!!! Glad to hear you had great time with your friend! Shame about the food though Dx Hate when they concentrate too much on the looks and not the actual purpose of the place...like its food.
oohhhh I love lots of desserts! I've seen pudding called milk or egg pudding. I just know it as flan XD Macarons can be great or really bad depending where you get them from. Unfortunately I've had both good and bad experiences with them.
    I LOVE CREPE.
