2025 Tokyo Wedding Trip Day 2

The next day, my friend Duke was planning to go pick up two of our other friends, ObliquerStrategies and Switchboard.op from the airport.  They're smart and flew into Haneda instead of Narita.  I will do that next time!!

At noon Duke and I went to KFC because of the Monster Wilds collaboration (for me) and I bought him the collaboration meal so I could get the code for the charm๐Ÿ˜น It won't be active until the update on December 16, so I gotta hold on tight to the code sheet!

How cute is the box???

The (smaller) meal came with two chicken, potato, and a honey maple Kentucky biscuit. The biscuit was interesting.  A bit dry and not quite flaky?
The larger meal comes with three chicken and also a sheet of stickers.

After picking up ObliquerStrategies and Switchboard.op we got to the hotel, which is the same hotel I was staying at in Ikebukuro!  Very convenient.  After they got settled, we went for some nearby izakaya inside a department store which was very cool as the whole interior was decorated. It was a Kyoto style one~

We got a private room and the staff was quick and polite to deliver all our orders, which was done via QR code on our phones.

Giant moving crab outside

We got some drinks to start and then ordered all the food!!

Started off with some steamed egg

Split an egg roll

I got a sea urchin tofu because it sounded interesting!!  I think it tasted pretty good.  I hadn't had sea urchin in probably 10 years.  Didn't even remember what it tasted like!

I got this little mountain of salmon and roe on onion on sushi rice rolls.  The presentation is awesome, but I didn't really know how to eat it in such a way  that I could actually get a bite of everything, so ended up basically deconstructing it ๐Ÿ˜น

Duke ordered this fairy(?) squid for us all to try!  I am 100% down for squid, but the flavor on this one was not for me.  I'm not even sure what was in the marinade!

Then there was this fish... I'm so bad with fish names I don't know what anything is!!!  But this was so delicious~~

And I snagged a bit of ObliquerStrategies' ice cream.  So rich and creamy, with the mochi bits (the clear type) and soybean powder!  A truly luxurious dessert to me!

Back in Ikebukuro, we went to Parco and I got to try this candied apple place I had saved! Got the original and it was so delicious~

It's in B1 of the Parco just outside Ikebukuro Station, called Pomme d'Amour. The apple itself actually still shines through in its flavor, and the candy coating complements it rather than overtakes it.

Other flavors

We browsed a little bit, and I saw some cool stuff! I forgot to take photos of the Disney Villains collaboration collection ๐Ÿ˜ฟ

My memory of the first few days is actually a bit blurry, but it seems we then went to a nearby GiGO arcade!

They had even a Monster Hunter themed medal-pusher game! We didn't play this one, but on a later day, I did play one with Duke.

The four of us ended up playing Mario Kart together.  It was a close race the entire time!  I didn't know how to choose my character though, so ended up as Waluigi instead of Boo!

Why do I look so dead here

A fun-filled day with long-time friends!  We've all known each other for over a decade at this point ๐Ÿ™€
