Yesterday I went to the Tokyo Kimono Show here in Taipei! I wore my Meta wa-lolita dress and paired it with the blouse from my han-lolita dress. It's got flared sleeves and is also blue and cream, so I thought it'd match with the JSK ok!

Hair clips: Tila Bunny
JSK: Metamorphose temps de Fille
Socks: Little Rose Planet
Shoes: Sheep Puff
I actually had a different hairstyle planned, but I didn't like how it looked so I changed it right before heading out.
Just outside the exhibit I ran into CathyCat who is here to display the coordinates she did as a part of the exhibit! We were going to go for bubble tea at 春水堂/Chun Shui Tang (one of the originators of bubble tea) but the queue was too long!
After grabbing a vending machine coffee, we headed into the exhibit as CathyCat had to go on the mini stage at noon, and her friend was there to help with photos/recording. I browsed the first part of the exhibit briefly first~
This layered coordinate represents the 12(?) different kimonos that girls/women wear throughout their lives. Very nice!
There were displays from various parts of Japan!
Kimonos really are so gorgeous! I hope to get the chance to wear one one day~
There were also pet kimono!
And a real, live dog wearing one!
Some kimono were very traditional, and some very modern
This one is a painted kimono design:
There was also a display by Taiwanese students
They turned the kimonos into completely different looks!
There were some very artistic ones too
I made it to the mini stage in time to see the three kimono presenters! They had periodic shows like this each hour I think it was? I only saw the first three though!
It was nice to see everybody's concepts about kimono! Such as making them easier for daily wear
Of course I love lolita x kimono mashups!!!! So these two coordinates by CathyCat are my favorites!
Look at the Sailor Moon decoration on the obi~ (It's actually a lip balm haha)
After CathyCat's mini stage segment, we went to 春水堂/Chun Shui Tang for lunch and tea! I wasn't very hungry as I'd had breakfast before heading over, so I just had some vegetables~
Mei, the owner of Little Rose Planet, also showed up to say hi! She's such a sweetheart~
Then we went back to the exhibit and I browsed the vendors section. I love the motif of goldfish (my socks and dress had goldfish on them!) and saw a kimono with goldfish, but the dress-up experience was $600 and with my outfit, it would have been a bit difficult to swap to kimono, so I didn't get a chance to try it on
This vendor makes products from fragrant wood shavings! He was shaving off bits to hand out to people and they smelled so lovely
Some handmade kanzashi(?) I wish there had been some that matched my outfit better. I do want to get some hair accessories specifically for this coordinate!
There was this Hatsune Miku kimono booth too! Very cool
And I love this Alice in Wonderland kimono print and coordinate!!!
Then I briefly browsed the nearby PC/game exhibit, though there was nothing that interested me much.
There were some cool PC builds that are practically artworks
Outside there was also a Stranger Things pop-up, but I don't know anything about Stranger Things other than the parts that are in Dead by Daylight game, so I didn't check it out
I headed home after that, and encountered a polite young man on the MRT who had also been at the kimono exhibit and wanted a photo of my outfit! We chatted a bit about kimono and styling until parting ways. Very nice!
Unfortunately, yesterday night there was a solo domestic terrorist attack in Taipei, so this post ends on a sad note. A 27-year-old man threw gas/smoke bombs at Taipei Main Station and ZhongShan Station, two very big and busy stations, and attacked people with a long knife, apparently targeting people in the neck. One 57-year-old man tried to stop him straight away, but sadly lost his life in the process.
As of the latest update I've seen this morning, three are dead and five to nine injured (different reports have different numbers.) The perpetrator is already dead by his own hand, and there has been no connections found to any big scheme or anything, so it seems he purely wanted to induce fear in people before taking his own life.
This type of event is very rare, so it is shocking every time. I hope the injured recover soon, and the families/friends of the dead find peace.
Kind of mixed feelings in the evening. Had a really lovely day, but then to hear how close I was to danger and those affected, it's feeling conflicted.
