Winter solstice snuck up on me! I did a surprise stream on that day (Sunday) and am hosting a giveaway until the 30th (Violet's birthday!) I'm giving away UwU Market merch with original art of my avatar! I think the artist did a great job making an anime version of my avatar. It's cute!
I did eat some tangyuan/glutinous rice dumplings. I got just black sesame flavor this year. No funny flavors like pudding or taro haha! Black sesame is my ultimate favorite.
On Tuesday my mom had some visiting family friends over, (that's the day I wore that ACDC Rag outfit) and we went out to eat! Before that, I tried making fake chicken using king oyster mushrooms and tofu skin based on some recipes I saw online, but uh... I couldn't unwrap my tofu skin properly so it was too thick, which meant I couldn't wrap the mushrooms securely, which meant it fell apart š¹ But it was still tasty!
For dinner we went to a restaurant I haven't been to before, and it was pretty nice! A bit pricey, but not horribly so. It was like a bit modernized Chinese food I guess?
It was nice to see auntie and uncle again!
After we got home, my mom's neighbor called her right as we were about to go upstairs and she was just arriving back as well, so we waited for her. She was inviting my mom and me to a Christmas party š¹ How lovely! Her husband is a westerner so I suppose they celebrate Christmas more compared to most people.
She also gave us a box of cream puffs! My mom doesn't eat sweets, so she gave them to me, haha! They're delicious!
Happy very belated Winter Solstice! Is it cold where you are now? Does it even snow in your area? Definitely doesn't snow here š¹ Let's welcome the growing light days!

DeleteTofu skin is so good!! I usually have it sliced up and stir fried with chives flowers, so it was fun to use it in a different way~

Happy winter solstice! Is it a big celebration where you live? I don’t hear much about it where I live but I like to learn about holidays :) I didn’t know about these dumplings before, I looked them up and they look yummy! I hope you enjoyed everything :D

DeleteThank you! It's not really a big celebration, but we do have the tradition of eating tangyuan! It's definitely one of the smaller "holidays" observed :3 If you get the chance, I highly recommend to try tangyuan if you can find it! Usually in frozen section. Put it in boiling water to cook (it'll float a bit when cooked) and it's done! Very easy.
My favorite brand is ę”å /GuiGuan brand! I've tried other brands before, and the texture is sometimes too soft or flavor feels off. I did have a good time! Wish you well, too~

Your food looks so good~ I think your "chicken" came out so yummy looking! In all honestly, the skin doesn't always stay in tact on real chicken anyway so this was a good representation XD I need to find these ingredients so I can try this recipe myself. It sounds and looks so good!

I think you can find the original recipe just by searching for "vegan mushroom chicken" or something. I follow a recipe from a guy's blog. But I forget the name!!
